Ithaca, NY — Saturday, August 12, 2006
Ithaca was lively, as usual. We have our own
community there. We had a very interactive and,
at times, heated Open Forum all day and into
the evening. Our free speech tent displays quotes
from many people of the nations like this one,
“If we don’t believe in freedom of
expression for people we despise, we don’t
believe in it at all,” “If liberty
means anything at all, it means the right to
tell people what they do not want to hear,”
and , “I may disagree with what you have
to say, but I shall defend to the death your
right to say it.”
We desire to extend to all those we meet the
invitation to express whatever is on their hearts.
This exercise of free speech is one thing that
restores man’s dignity to him, and helps
to bridge the gaps (that sadly exist between
human beings), especially when they know that
someone cares enough to listen to them. The movement
in the world today to level conversation to socially
acceptable, bite-sized capsules of political
correctness, easily swallowed, is pushing people
further and further away from being in touch
with what is even working within themselves.
These are just some of the things we are finding
that love is actually made of—the keys to unlock
even the most damaged of souls.
More coming soon!!!
